Tartu Turg is an important community hub in southern Estonia, providing a marketplace for local producers and small businesses. Magaziin is a well-known retail chain originally from Võru, whose product range covers home and garden goods, industrial goods and everyday essentials, with a strong presence across southern Estonia.
"We are very pleased to welcome the new members. It is wonderful that distinctive and important retail companies from southern Estonia have joined the Merchants' Association, bringing the local perspective and contributing to the development of both the sector and the local communities," said Nele Peil, CEO of the Merchants' Association.
Anna-Liisa Ingver, Chairwoman of the Management Board of Tartu Turg AS, noted that "Tartu Turg has always been a place where local life and commerce meet. Joining the Merchants' Association will help us stand even more effectively for the interests of small producers and traders in southern Estonia, and across Estonia more broadly. We want to give them stronger representation and keep alive the tradition of fair, local commerce."
Ülle Veibri, CEO of KPG Kaubanduse OÜ, added: "We started in Võru and now operate as a retail chain across Estonia. Belonging to the Merchants' Association gives us a chance to stay on top of developments in the sector, and we believe that with 25 years of experience behind us we can also contribute to the development of Estonian retail."
The Estonian Merchants' Association is the largest representative body for retail companies in Estonia, bringing together 60 leading companies that together employ more than 26,000 people. The association was founded in 1996 to represent and defend the interests of its members in the legislative process, in business development and in promoting the principles of Good Trade Practice. The retail chains belonging to the Merchants' Association today hold 80 percent of the Estonian food and essentials market.
